EBC Brakes 280 mm Floating Oversize Rotor Kit - Dirt Rider Magazine

When it comes to front brake action, I'm partial to strong bite, predictable feel and flawless control. I've found some aftermarket rotor kits to be too sharp, while others just don't have the feeling of one-fingered control that I'm after. But when I recently tried EBC Brakes' 280mm Floating Oversize Rotor Kit, I knew I'd come upon exactly the right setup for my riding style. This kit transformed a tired CRF450R stock front brake into a better-than-new binder that felt exactly as I wanted it to. The initial stopping action was strong and deliberate, and you could grab a surprising amount of lever without fear of losing the front end. Some riders may not like this much power out of a front brake, but I felt it was right on the money. Additionally, I loved the feeling of the floating rotor, which gave good stopping power without excessive play. I notice everything my front wheel is doing and have been known to stop and check the entire front of a bike for loose components before discovering that a floating rotor was giving me fits. Fortunately, I never had a problem with too much slop from the EBC setup. Thanks to the provided caliper-relocating bracket, installation of the rotor kit was a cinch. I initially thought $210 for this kit was a bit steep, but after seeing the awesome performance gains, I think it's an extremely fair price considering how well the mod works. -Chris Denison
