MSR Velocity Helmet - Dirt Rider Magazine

For 2010, MSR offers an affordable, well-designed dirt bike lid in the Velocity. While it is pretty much the same as last year's MSR helmet of the same name, it does feature some nice style upgrades including five cool graphic options and a radical integrated nosepiece for '10. Sorry rocks, no more beating up on the big ol' schnauz-it's protected!

The Velocity is the middle-priced edition of MSR's helmet fleet at $139.95. It has a Snell- and DOT-approved polycarbonate shell, and the whole lid weighs in around three pounds. I wore the 2009 model of the Velocity all of last year, and I was satisfied with the look, comfort and durability of it. The 2010 version is fitting exactly the same with a super-comfortable and removable liner, but the graphic upgrades and nosepiece are both good bonuses. I'd compare the whole Velocity line to the 2008 Shoeis in look and fit which were a very popular helmet among my riding buddies. The padding of the helmet really makes your head feel safe and snug, without pinching your cheeks in or putting excessive pressure on your dome. And the ventilation is good with intake vents that close off for cool-weather riding.About the only thing the Velocity package is missing is an extra visor, but that's usually a premium-priced upgrade for other brands. If you're looking for an affordable, cool-looking lid to protect your head, MSR's Velocity has you covered.
