Marvin Musquin's Day At Budds Creek Motocross | MX 2016

Marvin Musquin went 2-4 for 3rd overall at round 11.

Marvin Musquin went 2-4 for 3rd overall at Budds Creek and retained his 3rd place position in the 450 points heading into the last round of the series this week at Ironman. The Factory KTM rider had some issues in the morning practice with the bike and the track but made some changes for the Motos. We will take you through Marvin Musquin’s day from the first lap in practice to the last lap of moto 2 at Budds Creek.

In the first timed session Marvin turned a 2:04.660 on his 6th lap for the 4th quickest time. Marvin said later that he was struggling in both morning practices with getting comfortable with the track and the bike. In the 2nd timed session Marvin did better his first practice time with a 2:03.971 on lap 3 for once again the 4th quickest time. Here Marvin scrubs the finish line jump to stay low and get the wheels back on the ground to push forward.Photo By Rob Koy

Marvin said that he struggled in the morning sessions with his bike setup and that made him very uncomfortable on the track. Marvin got off to a decent start in moto 1 and was in 4th place after the first lap. On the 4th lap he was able to get by fellow KTM rider Andrew Short and then started to catch Justin Barcia who was in 2nd place. Marvin and Justin had a good battle for a few laps, around the halfway point of the moto Marvin made the pass on Justin and finished the race in 2nd place, 16.017 seconds behind Ken Roczen.Photo By Rob Koy

In the 2nd moto Marvin got off to a bad start and was in 8th place after the first lap, but was able to move up to 4th place, 10 minutes into the race. Marvin was catching Justin Barcia who was in 3rd and the two of them battled for 15 minutes until Justin put in a sprint lap and Marvin could not respond. Marvin said that Justin was roosting him out of the turns to keep him behind him. Marvin said he was ok with it as it’s a technique we all have used to hold off a competitor. Marvin Musquin went 2-4 for 3rd overall at Budds Creek and was pleased with his results, but thinks he could have done a little better. This week he will train again for the last round at Ironman this weekend and see if he could improve on his results.
