Montclair Yamaha’s Russell Pearson finished third at the Superstition National–round six of the AMA/FMF Racing National Hare & Hound Series–but was later disqualified, allegedly for hazardous riding at the finish. Naturally, the defending series champ appealed that decision to the AMA, and on Wednesday, May 19, the AMA ruled in his favor, reinstating his finishing position and points.According to a spokeswoman for Sidewinders Motorsports, the event’s organizer, the reason for the AMA’s decision had to do with timing. AMA rules state that any protests or other changes to a race’s results must be made within 30 minutes of the posting of the results. Pearson was not informed of his disqualification until 10:30 on Sunday night, May 16, one day after the race, which finished shortly after noon on Saturday, May 15.The latest point standings are as follows:
1. David Pearson (143)
2. Russell Pearson (133)
3. Brian Brown (112)
4. Destry Abbott (108)
5. Rob Phillips (71)
