Here at Dirt Rider, we’re always working on something. Whether it’s a new bike impression, a product comparison or just a cool feature, there’s never a dull moment in our production schedule. However, the real meat and potatoes of what we do revolves around testing-lots and lots of testing. At any given moment, we’ve got over a dozen product tests in progress, with new goodies entering the mix every day. You can see these reviews in our DR Tested section in the magazine, as well as online here at www.dirtrider.com. Here’s a taste of some of the things we’re currently testing:

Leatt Chest Protector: This long-awaited item is a Leatt original product, designed to work exclusively with the popular Leatt Brace. Resident neck brace guru Chris Green has been putting the miles in with the chest protector, and so far he’s been pretty stoked with the fit, protection and comfort. You’ll see this test shortly in the pages of DR.

Bell Moto 9 Helmet: With the release of the new Moto 9 helmet, Bell has yet again landed another solid product on the market. Several of our test riders have been using the new lids, and one notable opinion is that the Moto 9 has a much better fit than any previous Bell helmet. Jimmy Lewis is writing this test as we speak.

2XU Compression Gear: What’s better than high-performance gear that makes your muscles look huge? Kris Keefer and Chris Denison have been playing around with 2XU’s new lineup of compression gear, and although they still have some testing to do the initial response is super positive. And yes, we’ll shoot a better photo of this before it goes to print!

Snow Bikes: Not all of the testing we’ve been doing is product related: In addition to several off-road bike tests, the DR crew has been playing around in the hills of Idaho on snow bikes. We won’t drop the complete bomb until after summer, but there’s more than few cool surprises inside of these wild contraptions.

Hammer Nutrition: Sports performance is not only about having the best equipment; you need a body that can get the job done as well. Hammer Nutritional products are designed to maximize performance and minimize recovery time, both of which are essential to dirt bike-related training. We’ve been using Hammer products on everything from all-day trail rides to quick sprint road bike training rides, and the results have been pretty cool. Sorry, KTM not included.

Novik ‘That’s Cool’ Glove: With minimal padding and a slim fit, the Novik ‘That’s Cool’ glove isn’t for everyone, but we’ve been digging it for both MX and off-road applications. Even Jimmy Lewis-with his stumpy fingers and thick mitts-had some good things to say about the Noviks. Stay tuned while we continue to pound the miles into this glove.
