Pro snowboarder and snowboard video star, past accomplishments include winning the Snowboard World Extreme Championship, three-time King of the Hill Champion in Valdes, Alaska, won the Banked Slalom at Mount Baker, runner-up Red Bull Extremes and Curl Heli Challenge. 39 years old.My release was motocross until I saw snowboarding in For Your Eyes Only, the James Bond movie. I was like, “I’m getting that! I want one of those, what is that?”Kickers for motocross and dropping off huge cliffs snowboarding… It’s more just; you put yourself in the air, you always kinda preload, you don’t let something throw you around. Snowboarding, I didn’t just ride off something, I always ollied off into the air.My worst injuries have all been with motocross. I’ve never hurt myself snowboarding ever, and motocross, I broke my ankle once, I broke my femur, I broke my wrist twice, I separated my shoulder, couple of broken ribs. I think that’s about it. [laughs]Conquering certain jumps snowboarding helped me conquer jumps motoing because I can look at a gap on my snowboard and can (pretty much) nail it first time… It helps with motocross, looking at gaps and seeing how hard and how fast I needed to hit something. At the [Monster Energy's Crossover Challenge at Hangtown] race a few years ago we got to ride with Ricky Carmichael, Kevin Windham, Mike Alessi, Chris Gosselaar, all those guys. I said, “I’ll stay out of your way if I can.” And Ricky came in on the inside of me so fast in a rut that was more than a foot deep, and as he’s going by me on the inside he’s looking pretty much backward at me, laughing and heckling me as he’s taking off.
