No Love for the ISDE Privateers? When I received the December issue of DR and saw that there was a piece on the ISDE Six Day Enduro event, I was stoked. It’s a huge event and in America we don’t get a whole lot of coverage on it, except for the Internet and personal phone calls. Well, I had three friends that raced in it this year, Sean White (silver medal), Nolan Irwin (gold Metal) and Ryan Powell. All three of these dedicated riders raised a little money but spent mucho bucks out of their own pocket just to go, not to mention the cost just to qualify over the racing season. I understand that you guys slipped in a picture of Ryan but that was just luck. The reason I’m writing is I think every American should get some amount of acknowledgement for making the event, NOT just the guys who are Factory sponsored or are Pros. The U.S. media that covers the event should recognize all racers in the ISDE from the USA. It’s just respectful.

I agree with your point of view and know it all too well, I was once one of those guys. But we just don’t have the pages to cover all the stuff that goes on, no matter how deserving these guys are, and they deserve it. We should cover the MX and SX privateers, a lot of the guys in the other series off-road that win class championships, regional stuff and it goes on and on. Not to sound cocky or anything, but I was just a local desert racer that paid my way (with a lot of support form local District 37 clubs and some really helpful friends) to the ISDE. I wanted it so bad I went and rode my ass off and got second place in my class at the ISDE and they had to put my picture in the magazine. -Jimmy
