The Costa Rica-born rider suffered a fracture to the C-7 vertebra and bruising to his spine. He’s currently in stable conditional at Craig Hospital, one of the nation’s most prestigious rehabilitation hospitals located in Englewood, Colo.”Every year I look forward to playing in the Road 2 Recovery Golf Tournament as it benefits our fallen riders,” said former World Supercross GP/AMA Supercross Series champion Chad Reed. “This year will be especially important as the proceeds will go to my friend Ernie’s (Ernesto Fonseca) recovery. I’ve enjoyed racing against Ernie for sometime so this is the least I can do to help him out. He has been in my thoughts at each race since his accident and will definitely be in my thoughts during the tournament.”The Road2Recovery gold tournament pairs a supercross rider with each foursome for a memorable day of golf. Past riders who have participated include: Jeremy McGrath, Travis Pastrana, Chad Reed, Kevin Windham, Ricky Carmichael and Jeff Emig to name a few.
