“We are collecting cell phones, digital cameras PDA’s and laptops for the purpose of helping children who have been injured while dirt biking,” said Art Jurado, a RiderDown Foundation board member. “For each piece of equipment we collect, we will receive a monetary donation to the RiderDown Foundation.”According to Jurado, this fundraising project not only benefits the RiderDown Foundation, but also the environment. “Electronic equipment contains hazardous material. This project keeps these toxic materials out of the landfills and helps make technology available to those who can use it but may otherwise not be able to afford it. Alternatively, any items that cannot be resold will be recycled for their component parts. The RiderDown Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping off-road motorcyclists who have been injured while riding. Proceeds are used to provide assistance to the riders and their families when faced with medical expenses and related issues. To make a donation, or for more information about the RiderDown Foundation, log onto www.riderdown.org.
