Advanstar—a leading provider of print, event and online media for the powersports, off-road and automotive aftermarket industries—closed out round five of the K&N presents BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series Brought to you by Toyota in Long Beach, CA.Fans came into night two looking to see if sparks would fly once again. Josh Woods from Team Fun Center PPG TLD Suzuki had one person on his mind and for the first time all season it wasn’t Josh Demuth of Team Babbitt Enxus Kawasaki. The 250 main provided fans with the battle of the night as the “The Sheriff” Josh Demuth took on Tommy Hofmaster of Team Sano Systems PPG Shogun Yamaha for the nights top podium spot. Demuth would ultimately run away from Hofmaster leaving him with a solid second place finish. Ritchie Owens took third with Woods finishing sixth. The 450 main showcased Demuth once again as he looked to make it a sweep on the night. Hofmaster again charged to the front to grab the HoleShot, but he would once again succumb to Demuth who took top honors once again and reclaimed the Championship points lead. Hofmaster finished just out of the podium as Team Faith Yamaha Rider Kevin Johnson and Honda Rider Jeff Northrup charged hard from the middle of the pack to claim second and third place. In the Dash for cash Hofmaster’s early race speed would pay off, as he would claim top honors. His victory would earn his mechanic Jack Yost the MMI Top Tech Award given to the technician who contributes the most to getting their rider into the mains. The BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series heads to Glendale, AZ for round six of its 12-round inaugural race series. Riders like Turbo Reif, David Pingree, and Chris and Michael Blose signed up to challenge the Bad Boys of BooKoo Arenacross for a piece of the record BooKoo payout.Racing was halted just prior the 250 LCQ because of an electrical fire in the overhead speakers. Sleeters’ lead wouldn’t last long as Woods of team Fun Center PPG TLD Suzuki and Turbo Reif of team Richardsons RV Center Honda where hot on his heels and looking for the victory. Woods and Reif would pass Sleeter on lap two putting Reif out front of the championship points leader. A block pass by Woods on lap seven briefly gave him the lead until the white flag lap when Reif aggressively returned the favor knocking over Woods and capturing the Checkered flag.”I was looking to ride a smart race knowing that I had the championship points lead,” said Woods, finishing in a disgusted second place. “Turbo came in and took me out. I wont forget that one I guess.” Sleeter took the third and final spot on the podium making it the first time in BooKoo Arenacross history that a KTM has made the podium. The 450 main event put Woods up against Reif once again, but a collision in the first turn put Reif on the ground, giving Woods an early lead in the race.
