“In this day and age when more and more State Forests are being shut down to off-road riders, we are proud to announce that in Michigan, we are trying hard to prevent this from happening,” said Thomas Dunn, the Assistant Legislative Director of AMA District 14, “We’re working together with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to formulate a long-term plan for off-road trail and the health of our forests.”The joint event will occur on Arbor Day—April 29, 2005—in Kalkaska, Michigan. The tree planting will start at 9:00 A.M. at the Leetsville ORV trailhead located two miles east of Kalkaska on County Road 612.The public and area schools are welcome to join us. State Representative Howard Walker will be on hand to give a brief speech. This is being held in conjunction with the Kalkaska Trout festival being held throughout the week.The tree planting will be followed by A Family Enduro [Kids Race] on Saturday, April 30 and an AMA District-14 Enduro on Sunday, May 1 all located at the same site.
