U.S. Round of World Enduro Championships Possible Next YearIn an effort to make the World Enduro Championship a truer global entity, efforts are underway to host two rounds of the series in North America next year. The proposed dates and venues are July 15-16 or 22-23 in New York with a round in Canada north of Toronto the weekend before. (Holding the U.S. round on July 1-2 is also being considered.)

“That’s potentially what’s coming down the pike,” says AMA Sports Manager Roger Ansel. “We’ll know later on. Both the [Canadian Motorcyclist Association] and AMA presidents have met with Alain Blanchard who is the organizer of World Enduro series and the ISDE.”Blanchard made a presentation at Six Days last year to a number of us [after first approaching U.S. ISDE Trophy Team Manager Drew Smith]. He wants us to do something for him, to have a World Enduro [round] so he can really call it a ‘World Championship’ and therefore he’s helping us [get a round]—which is fine; we can work with that! I’m planning on having one in July next year.”It would mark the first time for the series to visit the U.S., though Brazil hosted a round several years ago. The ISDE, of course, has been held twice on U.S. soil: 1973 in Massachusetts and 1994 in Oklahoma.
