“This cause hits close to me because it affects a very close friend of mine,” said Carmichael. “Savanna is the beautiful daughter of Heath Hamrick and she suffers from A-T. My goal is to help raise awareness to this disease and hopefully help raise some money to support the continued research for a cure.”To further benefit the Ride for A-T, Fox Racing has created four specific sets of gear for Carmichael to wear at the Atlanta Supercross. The unique gear will then be auctioned off in both the Atlanta pits on Saturday, Feb. 26 and at the DMXS Charity Ride on Feb. 27. Carmichael will also donate the Butterfinger Hole Shot money ($1,500) to Ride for A-T if he wins the hole shot in Atlanta. All money raised in the DMXS Charity Ride for A-T will benefit the A-T Children’s Project. Last year, more than $25,000 was raised in the inaugural event. “As a parent whose daughter has been afflicted with the A-T disease, this event is very special to me,” said Hamrick, the event organizer. This year, the DMXS Charity Ride for A-T includes freestyle, step-up and all classes of racing on a separate, full-blown mini-bike track. Pro riders will be there to sign autographs and participate in the pro-only practice, so fans can get an up-close look at their favorite riders.Admission to the event is $10, or $15 to ride.
