He also set a new record for the most career 125 AMA professional wins, with 47. Paul Carpenter is a four-time AMA Four-Stroke National Champion, sweeping both the East and West divisions during the 2002-03 season. In 1997, he won a national amateur championship while riding for Kawasaki Team Green and turned pro the following year. Michael Byrne is a three-time Australian champion and entered in 2004 his sixth season of racing in the U.S., and his second full season riding in the 250 class. Byrne is a five-time member of Australia’s Motocross des Nations team and played an integral role in his country’s 2002 World Cup Championship.
