Red Bull KTM’s Jurgen Kunzel led the way. Kunzel, who was ranked third in the world last year picked up two podium finishes in both the 450cc and Unlimited class. The German ace also scored numerous heat race wins, three poles, and won Sunday’s Superpole aboard his KTM 450SMR.After the weekend’s activities wrapped, Kunzel said, “I”d like to give a big thanks to my mechanics and the KTM team. Everyone worked so hard this weekend. Overall, I feel that I gave my best it was good enough to win.”Red Bull KTM teammate, Kurt Nicoll also had an impressive day finishing runner-up to Kunzel in the weekend’s two Supermoto Unlimited main events. In addition, he took three heat race wins, qualified for second place, and finished fourth in Sunday’s AMA Supermoto final. The former World Motorcross star and current head of KTM Racing remarked with a sly grin, “I was determined to beat Jurgen, but in the end he’s a little bit faster than me, and so he should be. It’s been a hard weekend…there’s no oxygen up here.”All Access Racing’s Micky Dymond rode his KTM 525SMR to the final podium position behind Kunzel and Nicoll in both of the Unlimited main events.Next up on the calendar is a visit to Nashville TN, and the Music City Motorplex for Round 2 of the 2004 season on September 11.
