Replacing the XR
Hey Jimmy.
If all of your XR4s got a ‘XRs Only Pork Flu’ and died, which do-it-all bike would you replace it with? New or used and under $8000.
DanielThat is a good question and one I seem to ask myself a lot. I instantly think Husaberg 550 but that seems to go out the window when I need to do the long distance rides that take the really big tanks so I default to a KTM400 EXC. I have one of these too, a 2002 with about 40,000 dirt miles on it.I’d also consider a CRF450X since there are tanks available for these bikes, too. I’d likely go used since I see a lot of good bikes floating around on Craigslist, bikes from guys who bought them but never ride them and are getting out cheap. Check out the August 2008 issue to see what I did with only $3000…but it involves an XR, or two.Jimmy Lewis
