Husqvarna British Sprint Enduro Championship News Release

Once again delivering spectacular race action, the Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship welcomed two new Elite class winners as Taddy Blazusiak (KTM) and Husqvarna’s Ricky Dietrich claimed victory at the third and fourth rounds of the series respectively. In stark contrast to the sub-zero temperatures at the opening events of the championship, the picturesque Llangrove venue, located along the border between Wales and England, enjoyed weekend long clear skies and much welcomed sunshine. With a course mixing fast flowing grass tracks and technical woodland, riders enjoyed a physical weekend’s racing.

Following on from his second place finish at round one of the series in Aldershot, KTM Enduro Factory Team rider Taddy Blazusiak arrived at the BSEC eager for an improved result. Wasting little time, the Polish Endurocross specialist quickly established himself at the front of the Elite standings. Setting the fastest time on the opening special test, Blazusiak maintained his position throughout the day to claim a strong win. As Taddy steadily increased his advantage out front, behind him the battle for second intensified between Electraction TM’s Jordan Rose and Ricky Dietrich. With Husqvarna rider Dietrich holding the advantage over Rose going into the final test, it was a final late charge by Rose that ensured he secured the runner-up position.

With the course reversed for round four Blazusiak again set the fastest time on lap one, but was soon overtaken by the hard charging Dietrich. Determined to make amends for his previous day’s performance, Ricky maintained a healthy eight-second advantage to claim a well-deserved victory. Unable to quite match the pace of the leader, Blazusiak finished as runner up at round four. After a crash stricken opening lap, KTM’s Tom Church recovered strongly to end his day third in the Elite class with Rose and Daryl Bolter (KTM) rounding out the top five.

In the Under 23 class KTM mounted Jonny Walker rode to an impressive double victory at Llangrove. Twice finishing third at the series opener, Walker instantly found the fast paced course to his liking. Quickest on the opening test, he held an early two-second lead over Danny McCanney (Gas Gas) and Husaberg’s Alex Rockwell. Fending off a late charge from McCanney, Walker rode on to earn his first win of the series. With McCanney second, a crash on the final test by both Rockwell and Jordan Scott (KTM) allowed Husqvarna’s Jack Rowland through for third. Scott’s final lap mistake pushed him back to fourth while Scotland’s Frazer Norrie (KTM) placed fifth.

At round four Walker again continued to lead from the opening lap. Building his advantage throughout the day he finished almost 14 seconds clear of McCanney, who recorded another second place result. With his confidence high from his previous day’s performance, Rowland again delivered another strong result. Finishing third at round four marked yet another impressive result for the Husqvarna mounted rider. Jordan Scott again finished fourth with Rockwell completing the top five.

In the Under 19 class Steve Holcombe continued his winning ways claiming a double victory at Llangrove. Clearly enjoying the conditions at round three, Holcombe ended his day with a dominant two-minute advantage over second placed Joe Jones (KTM). James Dent (KTM) rounded out the podium by narrowly beating Husqvarna’s Robert Johnson for third. Aaron Smith (Husaberg) finished fifth. After a tight battle with Jones, Holcombe finally overcame an early deficit to claim another victory at round four. With Jones in second, James Dent again finished third with Johnson fourth and Smith finishing fifth.

Husaberg’s Jamie McCanney continues to be the rider to beat in the 125 Youth Cup with yet another dominant winning performance at both rounds three and four. Gethin Humphreys (KTM) finished as runner-up on both days. Lee Sealey put in a consistent ride to finish third overall ahead of Josh Gotts (TM) and Jack Staines (Yamaha).

Luke Meredith (Gas Gas) wasted little time in adapting to sprint enduro racing and convincingly topped the Expert class at both rounds three and four. Behind him Oliver Hart (KTM) was the Expert class runner up on each day, while James Jackman (Honda) finished third at round three with Tyson Maytom Jones (Husaberg) getting the better of Jackman at round four to finish third.

In the Women’s class Jane Daniel’s remains unbeaten with yet another impressive result. With Daniel’s the clear winner each day, Katie Walker (KTM) beat Fionn Griffiths to finish second at round three while Rhian George was fourth just in front of Katy Bullock. Griffiths improved at round four to finish in second ahead of George. Walker and Bullock rounded out the top five.

After a closely fought battle Greg Hurley (KTM) grabbed a 12-second winning advantage in the Clubman class over Ireland’s Richard Topping (Honda) while early pace setter Paul Davies (KTM) ended his day third. On day two TM mounted Gethin Francombe rode to a 50-second winning margin over Topping in second with Davies again third.

With rounds three and four of the Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship continuing to deliver some exceptionally close racing, the series now moves on to Saints Well in Mid Wales for rounds five and six on April 7/8.
