FP News Release
Saint John, NB – April 12, 2012 - FP Racing’s Ryan Graffunder posted another impressive performance at the 2012 installment of the Big Kahuna Hare Scramble in British Columbia last weekend. Graffunder piloted his Feeding Performance Husqvarna to a solid Top 5 finish in the Masters Class at the unique race that was held in the beautiful surroundings of the Whispering Pines MX facility in Kamloops on April 8th.
With its combination of a groomed National MX track, technical off-road loop and killer endurocross section, the Whispering Pines facility provided one of the most unique venues that the off-road crowd will see in Canada in 2012. Reigning Canadian off-road champ, Bobby Prochanau, set a blistering pace all the way to the checkered flag with Pro motocrossers, Jara Romancik and Lee Coutts, using their MX prowess to rob the remaining podium positions from the rest of the off-road Pros.
“I had a 7th place start on the first lap” said Graffunder. “The first half of the race I was running in 5th and 6th and then worked my way up to 4th. I had a great battle going with Dillon (Bucknell). I had to pit for fuel but Dillon did not and he got by me. I was hunting him down and had him in my sights but they ended up cutting the race short by a half an hour and I had to settle for 5th. Bobby was flying out front with two pro motocrossers behind him in 2nd and 3rd. It was very frustrating but I felt strong and didn’t fade as the race went on. In the end I was very happy with top 5”.
Ryan has been steadily honing his skills and experience over the last few years and is off to another great start in 2012. In addition to finishing 2nd Overall in the E3 Pro Class of the 2011 Canadian Enduro Championship, last race season also saw Ryan nail the Top Pro Junior Award (for riders under 21) for the 3rd year in a row. Graffunder had claimed the same prize in 2009 and 2010.
Ryan’s first race of 2012 saw him snag the Expert Class Win at the Endurocross in Oregon on March 10th.
