Rancho Cordova, Calif. – May 27th, 2010 – Hangtown MX hosted the season opener of the 2010 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, and the Rockstar Energy Suzuki team came out swinging. Tommy Hahn and Jake Moss took on the 450 class, and Blake Baggett, Ryan Morais, and Hunter Hewitt lined up to battle it out in the 250 class on Saturday. The team managed two top-15 finishes after some bad luck and tough racing. Blake Baggett placed sixth in his first moto in the 250 class and was looking to improve in the second moto before a collision with another rider caused him to crash. The race was red flagged, and Blake was unable to finish the second moto. Blake is currently recovering from his injuries, and is expected to recover before the next round. Despite the trouble in the second moto, Blake still placed 14th overall in the 250 class, which is stacked with fast riders.

Ryan Morais and Hunter Hewitt also competed in the 250 class at Hangtown. Hunter struggled in the first moto, placing 26th, but came back in a big way during the second moto and placed 18th. Ryan was more consistent, earning 14th in the first moto, and 13th in the second. Ryan took 13th overall for the Hangtown event, and Hunter earned 23rd.

Tommy Hahn faced stiff competition in the 450 class, but his RM-Z450 carried him through to a top-ten finish in the first moto. Tommy didn’t fare as well in the second moto and slipped back to 17th before the finish. He placed 12th overall, and earned 16 points toward the championship. Jake Moss made the move from the 250 Supercross class to compete in the 450 class in Motocross, and he fought the track and other riders in both motos. Jake placed 26th in the first moto, and 25th in the second, earning him 26th overall.

With the season-opener finished, the team looks forward to the next round at Freestone in Wortham, Texas. The second round of the 2010 Pro Motocross Championship is scheduled for June 5th.
