Rockstar Beursfoon Suzuki News Release

Amsterdam – The Beursfoon Rockstar Suzuki Team has had mixed fortunes at round three of the Dutch Open Championship Series at Heerde. Mike Kras rode a strong first moto and finished in fifth position. In the second moto he was riding well again but in the closing stages of the race he got an electricity problem which forced him to retire from the race. Micha Boy de Waal finished in ninth and tenth position in the motos which gave him seventh position overall.

In Heerde a strong field of riders went out on the track in practice. Despite the overnight rain the track was in perfect condition. The Beursfoon Suzuki riders were motivated do well after a good week of training in the sand. In practice both riders took their time to get used to the track and when the time practice started they gave everything they had to put a fast lap together. Mike set the seventh fastest time and Micha Boy ended the session in eight position.

In the first moto it was Mike who took a really good start and came out of the first corner in sixth position. In the beginning of the race he worked himself up to fourth position. Mike was riding in this position for a long time but when he got some fog behind his goggle he had to lower the pace a little bit. This cost him a position and dropped back to fifth position. In the closing stages of the race he got some pressure from the sixth place rider but Mike kept the pace as high as he could and finished the race in fifth position. Micha Boy took a great start as well and was around tenth position when he came out of the first turn. In the beginning of the race he dropped back to twelfth position but stayed calm and worked his way forward when he found the right rhythm. During the race he took over ninth position and held on to this position till the chequered flag waved.

In the second moto Micha Boy got a difficult first lap because he had to avoid several fallen riders. At the end of the first lap he came by start/finish in 22nd position. With consistent lap time he came back trough the field and finally finished the race in tenth position. Mike started just outside of the top ten and started a charge back to the front. This went really well because in the middle of the race he had worked himself up to sixth position. In the second part of the race he lost a position and dropped back to seventh position. Unfortunately with still three laps to go he got an electricity problem and was forced to retire from the race.

Micha Boy finished seventh overall and despite his dnf in the second moto Mike ended the day in thirteenth position. After three rounds Mike sits in seventh position in the championship while Micha Boy has moved up to ninth position. Round four of the series will be held in Mill next Sunday.
