Davy Pootjes News Release

Davy Pootjes of the Hannamax KTM Team has had mixed fortunes at round two of the Dutch Open Championship 85cc Series in Halle last weekend. Pootjes was fighting for the win in the first moto when he crashed. He lost a lot of positions and finally finished the race in ninth position. In the second moto he took his revenge and won the race. Overall he finished in third position.

Davy felt at home on the circuit in practice. He found his rhythm straight away and was the fastest rider on the track in the beginning of practice. During the session a rider set a faster time than Davy and so he ended the session in second position.

In the first moto he took a good start and came out of the first corner in second position. Davy was following the leader in the beginning of the race and after several laps he tried to make a pass stick. At this moment he made a mistake and crashed. The rider from Ammerzoden lost a lot of positions and when he was back on the track he noticed that the front end of his bike was bent. Davy didn’t gave up and was fighting for every position. Finally he crossed the finish line in ninth position.

In the second moto he took a poor start but Davy stayed calm and started a charge back to the front. When he found the rear wheel of the leader he waited for the right moment to make a pass stick. In the second part of the race he took over the lead and never looked back. Davy made no mistakes in the rest of the race and won the second moto.

Overall he finished in third position. After two rounds he sits in second position in the Dutch Open Championship Standings. Next Sunday round three of the series will be held in Heerde.
