The Masters of Mini (MoM) Series rolls into the Milford Riders Club in CT this weekend for Round 5 of the 2011 Series. But this event is special, because the organizers, Stimilon International, are celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month by having everyone wear PINK.
“I saw what the Anaheim SX did for the cause and wanted to do something on our end,” Stimilon’s VP of Sales and Marketing David Olcott said, “My wife is a 2 year survivor and all of the MoM riders went through it with us since her diagnosis, surgery and treatment were during the 2009 Series. But through it all, she never missed a race.” Laurie Olcott, wife of David, runs the registration and scoring for the MoM Series.
Industry companies have stepped up to support the cause: Motowear USA will be holding a massive raffle with proceeds also going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Raffle items include generous donations from Rossignol Snowboards, Skull Candy Headphones, DC shoes and appearal, Smith Optics, Motowear USA, Red Bull, Vitamin Water, Narragansett Brewery, and TB Parts to name a few. Additionally, Stimilon will be making a financial donation on behalf of the Series to the Foundation, because this organization that has helped so many women with this terrible but beatable disease. “The Susan G Komen Foundation did so much for my wife when she was battling cancer, so now it is our turn to give back,” said Olcott.
The event is scheduled for this Saturday, October 8th at the Milford Riders Club located at 565 Plains Road in Milford CT just off Exit 36 off I-95. Gates open at 11:30, Registration is 12-2pm, Practice is 2:30-3:30 and Racing is from 4-10pm under the lights. MoM has 14 different classes to choose from to race for racers 13 – 99 years of age. So grab your pit bike, come support a great cause, and have fun!
