JW Racing / DNA Energy Drink News Release

In front of 35,741 fans at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night for the third race of the 2012 AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship season, Kyle Chisholm
led the charge once again for the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team finishing 12th in the SX Main for the second week in a row after battling to remain in the top-10 for most of the night. Josh Grant’s night came to an unfortunate end early after tangling with Ivan Tedesco on lap 2 of the SX Main. Grant is set to have an MRI on Monday to further diagnose his injuries.

Leading up to the SX Main race officials were forced to revise Saturday’s schedule after heavy rain set in Friday night and into Saturday morning giving the
riders only one 12-minute qualifying practice to get the track dialed in and lay down their best lap. Kyle Chisholm laid down the 15th quickest lap in his Group A qualifying practice with a lap time of 56.365. Josh Grant finished his Group B qualifying practice on top of the board with a lap time of 56.695. Those times put Chisholm 15th fastest overall in Heat 2 starting from gate seven and Grant 19th fastest overall in Heat 2 as well starting from gate nine.

Both Grant and Chisholm put together a solid Heat race finishing sixth and seventh respectively to put both DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing riders in the SX Main. The action, however, quickly turned ugly in the SX Main when on lap one Trey Canard was landed on by Ryan Morais sending both to the ground with serious injuries that brought out the red flag stopping the race. Canard suffered a broken back and Morais sustained a broken jaw and fractures in his neck. Race officials restaged the field of riders in their gates to restart the 20-lap SX Main. On lap two Tedesco cut under Grant as both were coming through a rhythm section causing Grant to land on Tedesco sending both to the ground and out of the event early with injuries. We want to send our best wishes from everyone at the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team for a speedy recovery to Grant, Canard, Morais, and Tedesco.

Up next for the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team is Round 4 at Overstock.com Stadium in Oakland, CA on Saturday, January 28. SPEED will be broadcasting the race LIVE.
