Hendersonville, North Carolina: Racer Scotty Watkins Rode his Team JG Off Road Geico Powersports Monster Energy Kawasaki to a resounding win in the GNCC XC2 Pro Lites class at last weekend’s Acerbis Loretta Lynn’s round, in Hurricane Mills Tennessee. Watkins’ performance on his #15 Kawasaki was nothing short of stunning, riding his Kawasaki KX250F to the class win and fourth-place overall.
This win has established Ohlins USA as the source for dependable, performance suspension components. Watkins Kawasaki is equipped with an Ohlins TTX Fork Kit up front, and an Ohlins TTX fully-adjustable shock handling the rear suspension. Tested in mud and water and dust and grim and jumps and stumps, Ohlins USA off-road suspension components are now GNCC race proven.
David Behrend, Ohlins USA Off Road Motorcycle Development Technician, said, “First of all we want to thank Scotty and the whole Kawasaki team for believing in our suspension systems. There’s no better showcase for our products than a win. We congratulate the team on this win and we’re looking forward to where this season will take us and all the riders using our equipment. Jimmy’s second place in XC1 Pro capped this off as a great weekend that began with our sweep of the podium on Saturday in the top ATV class.
Watkins teammate with JG Off Road Geico Powersports Monster Energy Kawasaki, Jimmy Jarrett, rode his #6 Kawasaki KXF 450 to second place in the XC1 Pro class, after working his way up from fifth late in the race. This is the second time this season that Jarrett has finished in the runner up position, and it puts him fourth in the points in XC1 Pro. With Watkins wining XC2 Pro Lites, Watkins is now fourth and only a single point behind third. With eight races remaining, championships are absolutely the goals for each of these riders.
The big news from Saturday at the GNCC was the total domination of the ATV XC1 Pro class by riders using shocks from Ohlins USA. Finishing first through third were Bill Ballance taking the win, Brandon Summers finishing second, and Adam McGill showing at third.
The next GNCC race for these two- and four-wheeled racers is the Weekend Warrior Titan event in Lafayette, Tennessee, May 2-3.
