Blais Racing Press Release

Blais Racing Services has expanded their team to five talented riders.  Racing in the 2012 AMA/Kenda National Hare and Hound Series, the D37 Big 6 Grand Prix Series, D37 Enduro, D37 Desert, USDR, some WORCS events, and some GNCC events, each rider brings something different to the table each with their own diverse and dynamic, individual style.

MEET OUR RIDERS:

Shayla Fulfer – Age 20, from Meridian, Idaho.
Shayla is the 2011 Women’s A/B National Hare & Hound Champion!  In only her second season of racing in that series, she finished in the 1st Overall spot for the Championship Title.  In 2012, Shayla will be defending her title spot once again in the National Hare & Hound series as well as racing various WORCS events, some GNCC events, her local races, and she also would like to participate in the ISDE 6-days event that takes place later this year in Germany.  Shayla will be racing her KTM 350 this year.

At Round 1 2012 National Hare & Hound:  Shayla was excited for the new season and was eager to defend her title, but would suffer a big crash on Loop 1 and would have to call it a day.  After some medical treatment and rest, she was healed up and ready to race by Round 2.

At Round 2 2012 National Hare & Hound:  Shayla battled it out on the first loop with ISDE woman racer Nicole Bradford, and took the early lead and into the pits.  Shayla would later get passed in the technical, rocky hills and finish 2nd place for the day.

Kevin DeJongh – Age 19, from Long Beach, CA.
Kevin finished out the 2011 season in the 5th Place spot in the 250cc A class in the National Hare & Hound Series.  Kevin will be competing aboard his KTM 250XC in the National Hare & Hounds, the Big 6 Grand Prix Series, and in both the District 37 Desert and Enduro Series in the 250 A class.  Kevin finished the 2011 season in 3rd Place 250 A for both the D37 Desert & Enduro series.

At Round 1 National Hare & Hound: After a bad start, Kevin would still finish in 6th place in the stacked 250 A class.

At Round 2 National Hare & Hound:  Kevin would finish 5th Place 250A.  Kevin was at home on the technical 2nd loop and passed over a dozen riders.  The 250 A class is one of the most competitive classes in 2012.

Brendan Crow – Age 19, from Costa Mesa, CA.

Brendan is the 250 C Class Champion in the 2011 National Hare & Hound Series!  For 2012, Brendan has moved up to the Intermediate 250 B Class and will try and earn the championship in that class on his KTM 250.  Brendan will also be competing in some of the Big 6 Grand Prix races and some Endurocross events in 2012.

At Round 1 National Hare & Hound:  Brendan would have to sit out after breaking his collar bone over the New Year’s Holiday.  After just having surgery 2 weeks prior, Brendan decided to sit out Round 1 so he could be ready for Round 2.

At Round 2 National Hare & Hound:  Brendan would take the early lead and win the 250 B class by over 10 minutes!  He was also the 3rd overall B rider to finish this race.

Ben Meza – Age 16, from Apple Valley, CA.

Ben is the 200cc B Class Champion in the 2011 National Hare & Hound Series!  Ben would have a great season in 2011 and will be defending his #1 plate with teammate Sam Bangert.  Ben will race in the 2012 National Hare & Hound Series, the D37 Desert & Enduro series, and will participate in some Endurocross events as well.

At Round 1 National Hare & Hound: Ben would take 3rd Place in the 200 B class.

At Round 2 National Hare & Hound:  Ben would take 3rd overall again for another podium finish in his 200 B class.

Sam Bangert – Age 13, from Hesperia, CA.

In 2011, Sam was racing an 85cc Mini and finished in 1st Place in the D37 Enduro Series, 2nd Place in the D37 Desert Series and was the USDR Mini’s Champ!  Sam is now racing a KTM 200 for 2012 in the 200cc B Class and will be racing in the National Hare & Hound Series as well as D37 Desert, Enduro, USDR and other various events.

At Round 1 National Hare & Hound:  Sam would come into the pits in a great position but had a small mechanical issue on Loop 2 causing him a DNF for the day.  This would have been Sam’s first 2 loop race but he would have to wait until Round 2 for this great experience.

At Round 2 National Hare & Hound:  Sam would finish in the 4th overall spot in the 200 B class, about 20 minutes behind teammate, Ben Meza.  This is Sam’s first time completing a 2 loop National Hare and Hound he did great!

This bike was Chris Blais’ 2005 Dakar Rally race bike #22.  “It was sent to me with # 6 on it for some reason.  It was freshly rebuilt before sending over to me and has about 2000 training miles on it.  Suspension is stock but everything else is how I raced it in the 2005 Dakar Rally.  I just did a tune up and completely serviced the Rally Bike.  It is currently registered in the state of California, it has a green sticker, and we have the title in hand.”
