Just when you thought the WR was doomed, Yamaha throws down with a YZ250F-inspired look, some YZ250F Bi-lateral frame design and the topper, Fuel Injection on the big WR. The changes are designed to make the bike meet the emissions regulations it has to and still run strong, a much easier task with the FI setup. Chassis changes are meant to keep it thin and feeling lighter.Though the engine still looks to be the older five-valve design, not switching over to the YZ450F's reversed cylinder and newer four-valve configuration, it remains a wide-ratio five-speed and is known as one bulletproof powerplant. Additional features are a tool-less airbox access, ProTaper handlebars, electric start, wave-type brake rotors, on-the-fly clutch adjuster and ultra-wide footpegs. They are a little ways out, expected in dealers by March and selling for $8090.
