Clear Channel Entertainment's Motor Sports division announced today that the AMA National Arenacross Series is making a huge technological improvement by implementing transponder timing and scoring by AMB for the upcoming 2005-2006 season.AMB i.t. is the world's leader in transponder based automatic timing and scoring systems. Since the early `80s, AMB has manufactured the world's most advanced timing systems for events and organizations such as the THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series, 24 hours of LeMans, NASCAR, Champ Car, IRL, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, MotoGP, AMA World Superbike, American Motorcycle Association, IMSA, Olympic Games. To date, there are over 12,500 racing organizations worldwide that own and actively use an AMB timing system."The addition of transponder timing and scoring to the AMA National Arenacross Series is a huge step forward in helping to monitor and develop riders' skills," said American Suzuki's Cole Gress. "The electronic timing system, which is similar to the system that we use at supercross events, will provide riders and teams the opportunity to track lap times throughout the race to gauge their performance, optimum speed and endurance.""The data that's generated from the transponders to our computers is not only utilized as a tool for the race teams and riders, but is a very important element for the spectators and live event announcers," said Todd Jendro, sr. director of operations, Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports for Supercross and Arenacross. "Additionally, the transponders are an excellent compliment for local, national and industry media as well as TV production. Our goal is to implement the timing and scoring system for the AMA National Arenacross Series that is very consistent with its counterpart, the THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series."More big announcements for the AMA National Arenacross Series will be made over the upcoming weeks leading up the AMA National Arenacross Series opener in Albany, N.Y. at the Pepsi Arena October 28-30.Tickets are available online at www.areancross.com, www.ticketmaster.com, www.tickets.com (Guthrie and Green Bay only), and www.centreevents.com (Rockford only). For more information on the National Arenacross Series log on to www.arenacross.com.
