GNCC Racing Announces All-New Yadkin Valley Stomp GNCC - News - Dirt Rider Magazine

After months of searching, Racer Productions has found the perfect new venue for round 11 of the 2005 Suzuki Grand National Cross Country Series. The new Yadkin Valley Stomp GNCC in Yadkinville, NC, will replace the Spartan GNCC in Kentucky on the weekend of September 10 and 11."Unfortunately, a scheduling conflict with a car race at nearby Kentucky Speedway prevented us from racing in Sparta this year," says GNCC Trail Boss Jeff Russell. "But we've found a great new fit in North Carolina."

The Yadkinville race takes place in the heart of North Carolina wine country, and the track provides easy access off of I-79 near Winston-Salem.

"We're so excited to have GNCC Racing at our track," says track owner Marc Welburn. "I've worked with Jeff and his crew at other GNCC events, and I understand what it takes to make a GNCC work. This is going to be a full-time job for me over the next two months."

The new track promises great trails and plenty of parking for the over 1000 riders expected to compete in the event. The local chamber of commerce is excited at the economic benefits a GNCC will have on the community. The Yadkin Valley is quickly developing some of the nation's premier wineries, even garnering the nickname "Little Napa Valley.""It's coming, and we're right at the heart of it," sys Welburn. "The chamber of commerce hopes to offer packages to racers so they can visit wine country and learn more about the town while they are here to race."Indeed, even the event's name, Stomp, comes from the age-old practice of stomping on grapes to create wine. The Yadkin Valley Stomp GNCC will feature GNCC Racing in all classes, including an additional round of the new GNCC Youth ATV Series. All ATV racing and GNCC Youth Bike Racing will take place on Saturday, September 10. Bike racing will take place on Sunday, September 11.To get the track, take I-77 to Exit 73A in North Carolina to Highway 421 South. Follow Highway 421 for 10 miles to Exit 256: Unifi Industrial Road. Follow the exit road for 1.2 miles, at the end of road, turn right on old Rte. 421. Go 2/10 mile, turn left on Myers Rd.
