2014 Motocross Of Nations Update—Race Day!

Story and Photos by Pete Peterson

Going into Sunday's racing, Team USA was not in the position they wanted to be in. Dungey qualified third, Martin crashed hard and will start the day with a foot injury, and Tomac, though he qualified a disappointing 8th, actually had a great ride charging through the pack after a crash in the first few corners of his Saturday qualifier. The rules throw out one moto's finish, so based on Team USA's 3rd and 8th, they qualified 8th.

The track looks sandy but riders report that there is a hard base below, so this is nothing like the soft conditions at Lommel from two years ago. From trackside, the dirt looks perfect.

Check back soon for a race report, and catch the action on mxgp-tv.com and CBS Sports Network.
