Dean went out in the first practice session and turned a 2:21.395 on the last lap of the session. He said the track was a little muddy in the first session but it felt good to be back out there on a national track. Here Dean takes the second sand whoop lane down by the creek. Dean got a mid pack start in the first moto and was able at make it up to 11th place by the end of the moto. Dean was taking the inside line on the turn going up Martin Mountain for most of the moto. Dean said that he is racing at about 75-80% and will get better as the season continues. Here Dean is giving the knee a test as he leans it over on the inside berm.Photo by Rob Koy

Dean took the outside line down the hill before going up Martin Mountain. There were two lines coming down the hill, an inside and an outside line, and they would dictate which berm you would take before climbing Martin Mountain.Photo by Rob Koy

Dean lost a few more positions to Justin Brayton and Trey Canard in the first few laps. Dean then went back and forth with fellow KTM rider Benny Bloss through the middle part of the moto. Benny was able to pass and keep Dean behind him the rest of the race. Dean finished the race in 11th place.Photo by Rob Koy
