CHINO, CA (February 7, 2011)** - Yoshimura-backed teams came back to Anaheim for the fifth round of the 2011 AMA/FIM Supercross Championship season in front of a sell-out crowd Saturday night at Angel Stadium. The Rockstar Makita Suzuki, Rockstar Energy Suzuki, and Honda racing teams all showed off their Yoshimura products with strong results.

Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Brett Metcalfe powered his Yoshimura-equipped Suzuki RM-Z450 to a ninth-place finish. Reigning supercross and motocross champion, Ryan Dungey, suffered a mechanical failure in the main event when his chain came off and did not finish (DNF) the race.

"It wasn't one of my better days," said Metcalfe. "Everything for me today was just difficult. But you learn a lot from these days and we'll take it and move forward. I want to thank the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team for sticking by me and we'll just concentrate on Houston. I've always liked Houston and have generally done pretty well there."

"Well, obviously the main event didn't go our way tonight," said Dungey. "The bad part is that we had a really good day; a good practice and a really great bike setup. We won the heat and then ran into some bad luck in the main. It's a pretty tough pill to swallow because the entire Rockstar Makita Suzuki team has been working really, really hard. I don't know the last time we've had a DNF, which is pretty amazing in itself. This is a tough one and I'll take the weekend to blow off some steam for sure because we aren't going to quit and we aren't going to let this keep us down. The goals are still the same. We will be there at Houston."

American Honda Racing's Trey Canard put in an impressive performance aboard his Honda CRF450R. Canard was quick to find his groove on the challenging Anaheim track, finishing his heat race in second place. In the main event, he got away to a mid-pack start and rounded the opening lap in 12th position. Despite the odds, Canard set about working his way up through the pack, and by lap 10 had moved into the number five spot, where he remained until the race's end.

"I got a good start in my heat race," said Canard. "I didn't necessarily get a bad start in the main but I did position myself badly going into the first turn. I got bumped around a lot on the opening lap and I lost a lot of ground on the guys up front while I was battling mid-pack. The team did a great job setting my bike up; it worked perfectly. I'm really itching to get back on the podium because I know that's where the team deserves to be. But with every race I learn a little something more about supercross racing and I know all the pieces will come together very shortly."

Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki scored a sixth- and a seventh-place finish in Anaheim. Martin Davalos powered his Yoshimura-equipped Suzuki RM-Z250 to a sixth-place finish in the 15-lap lites main event and teammate Ryan Morais finished just behind Davalos in seventh.

"I got a good qualifying time in at practice," said Davalos. "Then I went into my heat race and my Suzuki RM-Z powered me to a good third-place start. I was able to get to second and rode real consistent. I felt confident going into the main and got a decent start, but by the last half of the race I started to think about who was behind me too much. I need to work on that. My Rockstar Energy Suzuki team did a great job and I'm looking forward to a little break and then San Diego."

"I twisted my ankle in the first practice," said Morais. "I kind of babied it through the rest of the practices and then I had it taped and Asterisk worked on it a bit. My heat race was a little tight and I got passed and ended up fourth. I had a great start in the main on my Rockstar Energy Suzuki, but I ended up dropping back and finished seventh. I was a little disappointed, but we'll build on it and I'll take a little time and rest my ankle and get ready for San Diego."

The next stop of the 2011 AMA/FIM Supercross Championship for the Yoshimura-backed teams is Saturday, February 12th, at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX. You can meet the Rockstar Makita Suzuki and Rockstar Energy Suzuki riders at Stubbs 59, 10430 Southwest Freeway, in Houston, TX from 5 - 6 PM on Friday, February 11th.
