Colton Haaker again crowned as E3 Spark Plugs EX Pro Jr. Champion

2009 winner of GEICO EnduroCross' Pro Junior Championship, Haaker successfully defends in '10

IRVINE, Calif., (Nov. 8, 2010) - The world's top junior EnduroCross racer, 21-year-old Colton Haaker (Lucas Oil/Kawasaki), enters the upcoming (Nov. 20th) Vegas EnduroCross final at the Orleans Arena as this year's E3 Spark Plugs EnduroCross Pro Junior champion.

The defending E3 Pro Jr. champ as well, Haaker amassed 65 points thus far on the GEICO AMA EnduroCross, presented by E3 Spark Plugs, tour and currently resides in 8th place in the overall pro class standings. Not the finish he'd hoped for to begin the season, but given his age and seat time versus the more veteran-based EnduroCross field, and it's a pretty solid effort from the former ISDE Junior Team member.

"Hey, it's cool to still be young and doing as well as I've been doing in EnduroCross," said Haaker, who just turned 21. "This year has for sure been harder and things haven't gone as well as they have in the past." Note: The E3 Spark Plugs EnduroCross Pro Junior Championships is open to pro class riders ages 16 to 21.

Haaker, who's been living on his own in southern California (Murietta) for over a year now, says the transition from moving away from his family to figuring things out on his own was one of the reasons his overall results weren't as high this year as they were in 2009 (4th overall in EnduroCross' premier class). But he persisted and was again the top young racer on the GEICO EnduroCross circuit.

"I learned a lot more about the sport this year and really want to do well in Vegas to close out the season," he adds.

Rounding out the overall E3 Spark Plugs EnduroCross Pro Junior Championship were Jacob Argubright in 2nd place and Keith Sweeten in 3rd place.
