At the moment, the YZ450F Long Haul bike is my only weapon for moto and off-road riding, and it needed both more fuel capacity and the ability to show how much fuel remained. I cut some rides short, returned to the truck and found I could have made another 10 miles. That was annoying. IMS has a great name for quality tanks, so I ordered up a natural color (to better see the level of the fuel). The tank fit the Yamaha easily and doesn’t feel much larger than the stock unit. You must reverse the petcock mounting, so the lever faces in rather than out, but otherwise there were no special requirements for mounting. The stock shrouds fit easily, and the seat takes only a little more persuasion to slip into place. The peace of mind on a long ride is pretty valuable; I’m not sure I could put a dollar value on it. IMS does put a figure on the tank, though: $274.95 with a screw-type cap like a stock tank. The tank is available with a dry-break fitting at additional cost, but I didn’t need or want that feature. The normal tank is just what I needed and wanted. –Karel Kramer
