Fonseca wins Round Two

World SX GP News from Arnhem, Netherlands:

After his dismal season start in Spain, Ernesto Fonseca's win at the second round of the THQ World Supercross GP in Arnhem was surely a relief to the Factory Honda rider. Following Fonseca across the finish line was Damon Huffman and Andrew Short.

Australian Jay Marmont grabbed the holeshot in the main event followed by Fonseca and Yamaha's Mike Brown. Both Fonseca and Heath Voss passed Marmont. Suzuki's Tyler Evans rallied his way through the field to fourth place by mid-race. Evans passed Short but the two tangled shortly after in a corner, causing Evans to crash and lose valuable places. The Honda XXX rider Damon Huffman passed Brown for second and gained valuable time on Fonseca.

After the race Fonseca said, "These races are very important to me because I need to take my racing to the next level. Last year, I was third to Carmichael and Reed. This year I need to be the top guy. I was a little tight tonight. The first few races of a series I am always nervous, so I am glad I have that out of my system before we start in the U.S."

Grant Langston might have only turned in a fourth place finish in Arnhem - something he wasn't too pleased with but it was good enough to put the former World 125cc Motocross Champion and 2003 AMA 125cc Motocross Champion into in the points standings lead.
