The gas now a days is pee pee poor when it comes to having any sort of a shelf life. If you try to start the bike, you will cause all the bad gas and contaminates to be sucked up into the little passages in your carb. Make sure you get all the bad gas out...then try to start. You may need to put some oil in the spark plug hole to seal the rings and bring the compression up to actually get the suck, squeeze bang blow events to occur.

Ihave some funny noise comeing from my clutch side on my 99 yz 125. It sounds as much as I can tell like its comeing from the clutch. The basket is wobbly and not tight on the shaft. But the center part where the big nut goes is tight its only the basket thats wobbly. Is it supposed to be good and tight? If so then Id bet the noise is from all the gears misalining and making the noise but im not shure any suggestions? and what should I replace the spacer and bearing? And probly the basket as well but I hope not lol? all Ideas welcomed!!!

KTM 200 Exc rider
Hi, Just read the KTM article in the DR internet page and was inspired to join up. I am middle aged kid who never grew up. I used to read Dirt Rider back in the mid 80s when I used to ride a Cr-500 R which I still have. I do most of my own wrenching on my bikes..still not fond of tire changes. I ride a roadking to work almost every day but have found my little KTM to be a real blast to push my limits on. I have returned to the mag and to the dirt. I have a KTM 200 Exc and after all these years I have a dirt bike with a license plate. The KTM EXC is bad ass for the tight trails, my back yard and snowy roads of new England. When my driveway loads up with wet leaves in the fall, the ktm is a stand on the pegs, figure eight powerslide machine. The dirt pile at the edge of town has my initials in it from my back wheel. On the roads the small ktm runs out of steam at higher speeds but in the tight stuff has very usable power and super suspension. I am thinking about a bigger EXC for more mid range and higher speeds. see you around..watch my roost

With the stiffer reed you typically give up a little throttle response and low end With the more flexable reed it starts to flutter at higher RPM's giving up top end power. While I've always liked FMF produces (pipes, silencers and when they made them the cobalt sprockets), I have been using the Boysesen Pro Series two stage reed for about 15 yrs now. They seem to provide the best of both worlds. Carbon Tech which was very popular in the 90's has various stiffness of reeds much like the FMF. Here are a couple of web sites to look over try reading the articles that will help educate you before you buy. What type of night riding do you intend to do? Also like Daggit said a helemt light is a great option, the bad news with all of these solutions is that they are not cheap. Night Rider is the brand of Helemt light I use, I run the Cannibal. It is HID and has LED on it incase you need to work on the bike and not use up all of your battery. Good luck Tim
