I have a few questions regarding dirt riding. How much different is it then riding on street? which bike would be a good starter bike, I was looking at an 08 kawi kx250f he is selling it for 3,000, I am 6'4 and 250 pounds? Also since being new to the sport I don't have anyone to trail ride with, anyone up for some trail riding? Please let me know what you think... Thank you...

New Dirt Rider in Orlando FL |

Try jetting before changing your gas/oil ratio. If you ride at low RPM a lot, you may need a leaner pilot jet or to raise the c-clip on your needle. If you run WFO a lot and are still fouling plugs, your main jet may be too rich.

fouling plugs |

It was my first dirt bike to own but not my first time riding. I had ridden friends bikes over the years and went on the occasional riding trip before owning my own. I've learned alot more these past 3 years. I decided to begin a ground up restoration/rebuild. It's been a little slow going, but slowly the parts are being ordered as i've tried to focus on whole sections of the bike. The bike came with a few sweet parts that i didn't realize till after i learned a few things. For instance, it has Applied Racing beefy billet triple clamps and Innovations modded forks. I've since changed the graphics, they were way uglier than they look in the pic. Purple and faded orange and the fenders were that hot honda pink. Before the rebuild, i added graphics, an fmf fatty, billet throttle tube and a pro-moto billet rear brake disc gaurd. I've got the bike stripped to all but motor, swingarm, radiators, handlebar/front fork assmbly. I removed the fly-wheel cover to check the bottom end freeplay and i see that this bike has a cracked case from a chain break. I had never seen it before because the vent hoses from the carb run along side it and i never moved them more than enough to see. Someone had used some type of sealant to seal it off. The crack doesn't go deep enough to affect any moving parts or sealing fluids of the main case/cylinder or tranny/countershaft. Nor does this compartment hold fluid. The crack is not a gaping hole and i guess thats how i was all able to ride all this time. I've already ordered another side case, but this is a huge job. And has set me way back. It seems possible to just leave it sealed the way it is. The cover seals out moisture and dirt so by leaving it i would think that all the parts inside would be subject to increased wear/corrosion. How fast or bad would depend on how good the seal, i imagine. Anyone with any thoughts or experience? http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq123/mdwk/Cr125.jpg

'96 Cr125 Build up/Resto Worst Nightmare. |

I ran her that day for about 4-5 hours. I ran her the next day as well for maybe an hour; ran fine that day too. Now this week she won't start. I'm not doing anything different than normal. Using the same gas with octane booster and ethanol cleaner. I can get her to start for maybe ten seconds, but I have to hold the throttle about 1/8th of the way open with the choke on to keep her idling. As soon as I let go of the throttle, she chokes off. I know the first response will be something along the lines of "Tear it apart and look", but I'd like to know where to start. I emptied from both the crankcase and reservoir. Checked and cleaned the oil filter (I bought one but turns out it has a metal filter), replaced the filter, both drain plugs filled the crank, turned it over, topped it off, measured a hair under two quarts, and went to check the upper reservoir and oil is oozing out as if it is overfilled? I did check right after I shut it off, does it need to settle. ????

Oil change question |
