So today i was attempting (key word there) to hit one of my smaller jumps on my friends track and so i was going, keeping a slow but steady speed in 1st gear. I was approaching the coping and BAM hit the powerband and i went FLYING. it was like a pogostick just...boing! that was scary.. but it was my first good jump, cleared about 12 feet probubly. (good for me atleast) does this happen to you guys alot? I went to test fit the new piston and thought it was way to loose so I looked on wiseco's web page and it list's 2 sizes the 54mm and the 56mm. Now my issue is the 56 is listing as you must have electrostatic coating or somethin like that. Now we bought the bike used and the guy never said he bored it out or had electrostatic coating put on the cylinder or anything like that but the old piston does say its a 56...so has anyone ever ran into this issue??? how do I know if the cylinder has been treated and or what piston am I supposed to get? flat or domed?? (the old one was domed)...

Family members are encouraged to attend especially if you are new to the sport. This is a great opportunity to learn some of the fundamentals of the sport, observe coaching techniques that work for your rider, ask questions and introduce yourself to fellow riders. The day begins with a safety inspection of your bike. With everyone checked in, we discuss safety equipment, track safety, track etiquette, track conditions, bike maintenance and physical conditioning. Then it is off to the track for hands-on instruction and training. After lunch we are back on the track with specific drills for cornering, whoops, jumps and braking. At last we put it all together for a few laps around the track and then close the day with a free ride and a big thank you! Riders are placed in groups based on age, bike size and experience with adjustments made as we get to know the riders throughout the day. Classes are $120 per rider for the entire day. Parents come watch and learn for free. Parents can use this knowledge to help there rider at home, out on the track or where ever they will be riding. This school is designed for riders who have NO experience in competition motocross racing or have just acquired a motocross bike with little to no riding experience. This school provides motocross education to riders ages 4 and up.

This will go into effect for the '09 Supercross and National series. I have stated on this board before how much I am worried about the increased sound from 4 strokes is hurting our sport. Yet I am not applauding this rule. In fact I am completely against it. I don't think the professional series should be so restricted. At the amateur level and our local tracks should adopt this, but not at the proffesional level. When I go to a NASCAR event I love the sight and sounds. Do I think my car should be that loud? No. But I don't think a pure race car should have to be quiet like my car is. Our bikes are race bikes and should not have to be as quiet as cars are either. Except that we are riding in close proximity to peoples homes, and in the woods where people think silence is golden. When a race is held at a professional track for one weekend a year. Sound is not a big issue. I think the AMA is trying to lead by example to get the amateur riders accepting lower sounds. Maybe they are even forcing the aftermarket to engineer pipes with less sound without costing power. In the end I think the factories are just going to choke up the bikes (ala YZ450) and we are going to have to pay to get the parts needed for the bikes to run good. MX is getting more expensive these days.
