This was my second year racing the MTA World Vet Nationals and let me tell you, the whole weekend is just an awesome experience. I may be biased since this race acts as a reunion for some of my oldest racing friends from Montana, but just a spectator there is plenty of race action, a pile of MX celebrity sightings and more friendly faces in the pits than you'll know what to do with.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2009) - Nineteen year old Kawasaki pilot Colton Haaker is poised to take top honors in the newly-formed E3 Spark Plugs' EnduroCross Pro Junior Championship - featuring the nation's top up-and-coming 16 to 21-year-old GEICO AMA EnduroCross racers - when the GEICO AMA EnduroCross, presented by E3 Spark Plugs, series culminates with the final round at Vegas' Orleans Arena on Nov. 21st.

Monster Energy Kawasaki's Destry Abbott recently finished second overall in the AMA National Hare and Hound series after riding through a season of ups and downs. Abbott talks about the race, his passion for desert racing, and his next big challenge-the Baja 1000.

The 2009 ISDE is over after a long week. Day 6 ends with a short trail section and then a final motocross. The E1 final moto saw a bunch of Americans out front. Jamie Lanza walked away with 2nd place in the moto with Timmy Weigand in 4th and Damon Huffman in 5th, a decent finish considering all 3 of these guys are ISDE rookies. In the E3 moto Kurt Caselli got 4th and Nathan Kanney finished 8th. In the E2 final moto Destry Abbott finished 7th.

Day 5 is done and we got some really great action. On Day 6 there will be a short trail loop, followed by several motos based on class and classification of the riders. Day 5 was a really tough day for Team USA and they slipped to 7th in World Trophy Competition.

Information is slow in coming from the other side of the globe but things are looking up for the USA Trophy Team as Kurt Caselli stands firm with his 4th place in the E3 class and Destry Abbott has a great day 4 and leaps into the top ten in the E2 class. The Trophy Team now rides in the top five, 20:54.59 behind the leader, Team France.

The big news today is that Juha Salminen is out of the race after his bike would not start the morning of Day 3. This makes it the 3rd DNF in a row for Juha Salminen. The USA World Trophy (6th), Junior Trophy (3rd) and Women's Cup (4th) teams stayed in the same spots from the previous day.

Team USA's trophy teams for the 2009 ISDE in Portugal saw little changes in overall or personal positions today as the event crossed the half-way mark. For the first time, riders saw a new course after battling a twice-beat loop the previous two days. It seems riders are falling out of this year's ISDE in Portugal at a rapid pace. After yesterday's news filtered in about Ricky Dietrich's bike troubles in the first special test of the event, we'd hoped that Team USA's bad luck was behind them. No such luck.

Day 1 is in the books and Team USA had their share of problems. A major blow to the Trophy Team was the loss of Ricky Dietrich, who had to pull out of the race due to mechanical problems. The US Trophy Team still hung in there and wound up in 5th. The Junior Trophy Team had a great day with a 2nd place finish, just over 1 second behind France.

Michael Lafferty rode one of his most impressive races of the year, taking a 25-second win over KTM teammate Russell Bobbitt at the final round of the AMA/Rekluse National Enduro Series in Upland, Indiana. However, it was Bobbitt who finished off this year's super-competitive season with the national title - his third national championship in four years - after taking the runner-up finish.
