2005 Honda Cr125r Side View
Wide open is where 125s must live, and the eigth-liter CR is happy there.
What's Hot!
• We can finally say that Honda delivered on its promise of strong-running engines in both the CR125R and the CR250R.
• Always-solid handling, and suspension came along for the ride.
• Honda's two-stroke engine and chassis durability is a given, and a strong selling point for riders who put a lot of time on their bikes or own them for more than one year.
• Every part on these bikes is near works-bike quality and very sano—except the chain, though it still will last for a few months before stretching to a slow death.
• Honda is still making two-strokes.

What's Not!
• Why did only the four-strokes get the fourth-generation frame, and would it make the two-strokes even better?
• A little late to the show.
• The CR250R makes some interesting engine noises.

Honda's CRs are no longer infected with power-deficit disorder.

CR125R
I really didn't know what to expect from the new CR because over the years, the bike has been the slowest of the 125s. It has always been a fun bike for me to ride, but it's been frustratingly slow. The new CR is dramatically different in the motor! For me, it still lacks a bit of power off the bottom-end, but it comes on super-strong in the midrange and pulls hard up top. The motor revs much further than last year's, allowing me to ride the bike aggressively with a ton of confidence, something I have not enjoyed on the CR125R in past years. As always, the CR feels super-light and handles awesomely. I think the new red flyer is changed for the better, and for the first time in years it is a contender with all the other 125s.
