Ever wish you could go one-stop shopping? I sure do. I hate shopping. But if I could go shopping for socks, underwear, groceries, plants, a new car and a puppy all at the same store, I'd be in heaven. One trip. One bill. Well, if you're lucky enough to own a Yamaha WR, you can get just about every part you'll ever need-from colorful engine plugs to thumb-activated computer controls-all from one source: GYT-R. It's Yamaha's own aftermarket superstore and, when big blue sweetened up a WR250 with all the parts it could dream of for Dirt Rider, I just had to ride the sucker and find out if this was really a slice of shopping heaven.
Right away, I was impressed with the improvements the GYT-R parts made to the already potent WR. Aside from some simply-for-looks colorful pieces, every GYT-R part made an almost instant gain over stock and compared well to any aftermarket stuff we've seen. And, even though some of the pretty stuff wasn't overly functional, the engine plugs, graphic kit and handlebar pad looked so good their being purchased seemed justified.

This is GYT-R's WR250. It's a one-stop shopping showcase!
First, I loved the pipe setup. The WR models have the best power potential in their class, and all it usually takes is the addition of an aftermarket pipe to really wake them up. This combo definitely woke it up. More power throughout and a clean sound, too. Best yet, the aluminum can keeps noise down to 96 decibels, which is impressive since the WRs are also the loudest (once you uncork the stock exhaust) of the midsized off-roaders. This exhaust is nice. And its stainless header and aluminum can are affordable.
Besides the exhaust, this WR was a showcase of Yamaha's in-house aftermarket department. If you own blue, you should check out what it can do for you. I for one went crazy over the footpegs; got emotional over the handlebar-mounted computer control and the clean graphics; and the body armor looked so nice I almost didn't want to get it dirty (almost).
