2004 Ktm 300 Exc Side View
When you're in the woods, you're in the E/XC's world. All it needs are hand guards!
What's New
• An all-new engine with a slightly more-upright cylinder angle and more-compact cases.
• A new frame, longer swingarm and different shock location.
• Vastly revised suspension settings with a straight-rate rear spring and a longer needle to allow the PDS shock piston to be more effective. The fork has a more-effective midspeed valve and lighter settings in the base valve.
• '03 250 SX-type bodywork that includes the one-piece rear fender and side number plates first seen on the '03 250 and 200 SX and the SX airbox with the pop-off cover.
• A smaller and lighter rear-brake system.
• Even the handlebar changed from an aluminum crossbar-type to a tapered oversize handlebar.

What's Hot!
• Fully equipped and ready to race off the showroom floor.
• Engine produces plenty of smooth, tractable power everywhere in the rpm range.
• Ultraquiet muffler/spark arrestor doesn't kill performance.
• Electronic odometer/speedometer is nice.
• Light and tucked-in kickstand, and front and rear lights all work well.
• Suspension is off-road plush yet offers plenty of good bottoming resistance.
• Brakes are ultrapowerful.
• Powdercoated frame and hubs and nickel-plated pipe are easy to care for.
• Large tank is super-slim.

What's Not!
• Some riders are boiling the rear brake in the woods.
• Seat is still skimpy on padding and too firm.
• Not legal everywhere since it is a closed-course race bike.
