LOS ANGELES, CA (March 30, 2009) - Team San Manuel Yamaha's James Stewart took his ninth win of the season at round 13 of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, an FIM World Championship, Saturday night at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
Before an almost capacity crowd of more than 36,900, Stewart took his 12th heat race win of the 2009 Supercross season in Heat Race 2 for the direct transfer to the Main. Teammate Kyle Chisholm ran Heat Race 1, taking ninth place for direct transfer to the Toronto Main.
On the opening lap of the race, the 2007 Supercross Champ rocketed into the lead and subsequently led all 20 laps of the main event. At the halfway point, Stewart had a five second lead and by the race's end, Stewart had mounted a 12-second lead over the second place finisher. Team San Manuel teammate Kyle Chisholm, qualifying for his ninth Main event of his rookie season, finished 13th.
"Every week it's 100 percent," said Stewart. "Everyone makes mistakes once in a while but it's a long championship and there's gonna be drama all the way to the end. I went too far inside (on the start) but it worked out and then I turned it on. I want to thank all my guys at San Manuel. We've been working hard all week to get here. At the end of the day, I know me, my team, and everyone involved are giving 100 percent and that's all we can do."
