SAN DIEGO - The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museums exhibit Motocross America: The Early Years began its national tour on April 1st at the San Diego Automotive Museum. The exhibit showcases the history of motocross for audiences in Southern California, a regional home for many racing champions, past and present. The exhibit runs through June 25, 2008. San Diego BMW Motorcycles is proud to be a gold sponsor of the exhibit and has one of the beautiful R 1200 GS Adventures on display in the museum lobby. On Saturday May 17th the opening of the exhibit will be celebrated by scores of motocross champions from the past and present. The museum opens at 10:00 AM that morning and the champions will arrive starting at 1:00 PM and be available for autographs. Admission is just $8.00 for adults. At 5:30 PM the doors will open for the huge celebration party in a lovely outdoor setting behind the museum. Famed race announcer and Motorcycle Hall of Famer Larry Huffman will be the master of ceremonies at this important event to help raise money for the non-profit San Diego Automotive Museum. Many of motocross' most famous legends have already committed to this event. 4-time World Motocross Champion and Suzuki Team Manager Roger DeCoster, Team Suzuki rider Mike Allessi, and the sports past champion like Broc Glover, Gary Jones, Gary Bailey, David Bailey, and Marty Tripes. National media is also expected to attend. 25 framed pictures of many of the famous athletes that will be present will be signed and offered for auction along with many other items donated by the champions. The museum is located at 2080 Pan American Plaza in San Diego's historic Balboa Park, composed of over 22 museums and cultural institutions and often referred to as the "Smithsonian of the West."
