Mat Rebaud (CH) is the topstar of the Freestyle-MX Party 2007
Good News for all FMX-Fans: reigning IFMXF-world champion Mat Rebeaud will be headlining the Freestyle -MX Party at the Erzbergrodeo XIII. The Swiss ranks among the absolute FMX-world class and with 11 meters he sets the world record at the Motocross Step-Up. On Board his KTM Mat Rebeaud was flying higher than anybody else before - eleven meters, three floors, a diving platform - that high is his world record. The further line-pp of the spectacular Freestyle-MX Show in front of the scenery of the Styrian Erzberg can also put in quite an appearance. Belgian KTM newcomers Gilles Dejong and Steven Stuyven will support Mat Rebeaud in the FMX-Show as well as in all racing competitions. Chris Birch (UK) and Bjorn Van den Broeck (B) complete the FMX-Crew at the Erzbergrodeo and will start in the Iron Road Prologue as well. The Freestyle-Area will be built up right inside the Erzberg-Arena next to the marquee just as in the last years . It is one of the highlights for thousands of spectators at the Erzbergrodeo. The FMX-Party starts on Saturday, 9th of June at 6:30 pm.
NEW: The Twin-Cylinder Kings Class starts in the Erzberg Arena
Under the gigantic rolling thunder of the big-bore twin-cylinder enduros, the Erzbergrodeo will start for the 13th time on Thursday, 07th of June 2007 exactly at 1 pm. It was in 2005, when the spectacular facing competition took place at Erzberg for the first time and it is enjoying a permanently growing popularity since then. At the beginning of May almost 100 2-cylinder pilots have registered for the Erzbergrodeo Kings Class.
In June 2007 the Kings Class will not be started in the centre of Eisenerz, but inside of the newly developed Erzberg Arena. The start area for the Kings Class and the Iron Road Prologue will now be set up in the immediate neighbourhood of the marquee, so that the fans will be even closer to the racing action - according to the motto of the Erzbergrodeo: 'Any closer to the action and you'll need a helmet too'From the starting line the drivers first cross a specially constructed bridge towards the opposite Erzberg-Route and go on at full speed to the peak of the "Iron Giant". A highlight of this race s is certainly the renewed participation of the KTM factory squad riding the 950 Super Enduros. KTM Sports Director Winnie Kerschhaggl - himself a repeated Erzbergrodeo competitor - puts his trust in a clear victory of his team. 'We have taken all precautions to appear at the starting line with a top team. And the 950 Super Enduro is the perfect bike to challenge the extremely fast track.' In 2006 Enduro-Superstar David Knight (UK) dominated on the barely 18km long gravel trail. The reigning Enduro-3 World Champion rushed his KTM 950 to the top of the Erzberg within 8 minutes 52 seconds, followed by Simon Kirssi (FIN) on a BMW and the Dakar-Winner Cyril Despres (F) on another 950 KTM.
Red Bull Hare Scramble 2007 on a new powerful track
500 bikers will start, but only a handful of them will reach the finish line after 4 hours. Welcome to the harsh reality of the Red Bull Hare Scramble - the definite highlight of the Erzbergrodeo and the toughest Offroad motorcycle race worldwide! Last year 39 riders reached the finish line inside the Erzberg arena - a tremendous, unequalled all-time-high at the Erzberg. KTM factory rider David Knight marked a new minimum time with 1:17:33 on the nearly 40 km long and enormously selective trail. Race promotor Karl Katoch has already announced that he would shape the track even more selective and rougher in 2007. 'We will extend the number of No-Help zones and pay strict attention that the bikers won't get any help from the spectators or team members. We have also added some new track sections, which the bikers will accept with enthusiasm. Red Bull Hare Scramble isn't really a children's party and we owe a high standard to our spectators' Katoch describes the track modifications. The start of the Red Bull Hare Scramble will also be reshaped in 2007. Katoch can even imagine a separation of the entire starting grid (10 lines to each 50 riders) at different levels of the start location, as the starting area could become too small because of the extensive quarry of the still active mining activities.
