OHMVR PROGRAM STRATEGIC PLANNING
The Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division and Commission are developing a shared vision which will become the vision statement for the OHMVR Program Strategic Plan. This plan, once completed, is focused towards a visionary yet practical guide to address and achieve short term opportunities while at the same time assessing and formulating strategies for long-range solutions.
As part of this process we are providing information and updates on the OHMVR website that will allow for the public to follow our progress, participate in various public meetings/conference calls, and contact staff directly with input or comments.
The first piece of information provided for public review and comment is the "draft" Vision Statement.
The "draft" Vision Statement was presented to the OHMVR Commission on September 8, 2006 and approved as a draft by the Commission. The "draft" Vision is as follows:
"The California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) program will sustain its leadership in the field of off-highway motor vehicle recreation, as demonstrated in its provision for recreational opportunities that are:
Diverse in its offering of recreational experiences relative to geographic distribution and skill levels;
Protective of cultural and natural resources; and
Managed in a manner that supports program goals and long-term use; guided by dynamic Division leadership and Commission oversight.We are asking for your comments and suggestions in an effort to formulate a clear and concise "Vision" for the OHMVR Program as a whole. With that in mind a "public conference call" is being scheduled on October 17th from 2-4 pm. The OHMVR Commission Sub-committee of Judith Anderson and Mark McMillin, along with OHMVR Strategic Planning staff Edward Navarro, will be a part of the conference call to collect your comments and suggestions and to answer questions as appropriate. To be part of the conference call please dial the toll free number (866) 631-1356. The pass code is 8803629.
In addition, included here (in PDF format) is background information that was developed as a result of a March 2006 Commission Meeting relative to the development of a shared vision.
