This year's ride included nearly 700 riders.
Last weekend was the 21st annual Soboba Trail Ride, and it was huge. The ride is held on the Soboba Indian Reservation with the permission of the tribe, and it has tight, technical trails that are only opened to non-members this one day a year.
The past couple of years, the Soboba Trail Ride has been gnarly wet, but '06 saw a very dry, dusty and silty course. It was still a fun ride, and very tough as always. Out of nearly 700 riders, only 35 attempted the second loop. And of those 35, only seven riders finished. That's a 1% finish rate!
Malcolm Smith is always the Grand Marshall, and he leaves on the loop first. His duties this year also included piloting an ATV pulling a trailer with these Indian princesses over to the start of the event for young members of the tribe.
The ride is invitation only, and takes place just once a year, but they annually accept a select few new riders. Want to get in next year? Call Bob Graziano at 951/654-9436.
