Stefan Everts Wins Genk International MX in Belgium

Once again the dominating Stefan Everts rode his L&M YZ450F with determination and fluidity to capture the overall win in the International race in Genk, Belgium. The Team Rinaldi Yamaha rider's third place finish in the first moto coupled with two Moto wins were good enough for number one.

With the start of the MX World Championship in Zolder, Belgium rapidly approaching on April 3, Everts is already looking like a contender for the World MX title yet again.

His eternal-rival, Mickael Pichon, proved to be in good shape and his 2-2-2 score meant the Frenchman had a strong hold on second place for the day. And the third step of the overall podium was occupied by Everts' teammate, Brian Jorgensen thanks to his 4-7-4 record.

It wasn't such a good day for Joel Smets. After winning Moto1 and finishing fourth in the second moto, the factory Suzuki rider DNF'd Moto 3 with bike troubles, denying him certain victory.

Ben Townley would also turn in some good finishes. But the factory KTM rider slid out while duelling with Pichon for second place in Moto 1. He wound up finishing a dismal 18th as a result of the lengthy time spent trying to get his KTM re-lit. However, the young New Zealander returned to the remaining motos with stubborn resolve and turned in two solid thirds to earn him sixth overall for the day.
