"Big Air" Lafferty was the big winner at Daytona's Alligator Enduro.
A light rain the day prior kept the dust down and the traction high for the annual Bike Week Alligator Enduro. Nearly 500 riders came out to have a go of the tight Palmetto infested woods as usual.
It was KTM's Mike Lafferty and Yamaha's Jason Raines leading the way in the first twelve-mile section posting a seven and a six, respectively. However, Raines went in to that section early and docked an additional two points for a burnt check.
A series of other checks would follow that all of the top riders made on time. The next test section would be seven miles long and again Lafferty posted the quickest time along with Stephen Edmundson and Hawkins.

Randy Hawkins maneuvers through the Alligator's notorious tight palmettos.
The final section was eight miles in length through some of the faster sand trails and Lafferty was the only rider to score a 1 while Hawkins had a 3 and the rest of the top runners many more, claiming they had got lost and rode some of the course twice. As a result the organizers decided to throw out that section and score the event on the previous checks.
