Why does a big, tough, macho magazine editor like me ride a minibike? Well, if I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand. I picked up the TT-R90 because it was electric start, something else you wouldn't understand. Then I loaned it to my nephew for a while. In that time, we built a pretty sick mini track that was perfect for midsize bikes like the TT-R and Kawasaki KLX110s, so I needed some steam to keep up. I turned to Two Brothers Racing (www.twobros.com) and dropped in a Hyper S-stage 110cc kit. My bike officially rips now! It even blows away modified KLXs; just call it Yamaha power! All this through the quiet stock exhaust pipe.
However, I needed to bump up the spring rates front and rear for my girth, and the biggest issue became the top triple clamp, which I was bending-nothing a little plate steel and some welding couldn't fix. Here is where I was finding out that the TT-R isn't at the top of the priority list for aftermarket mini mods. This didn't matter, because I had pretty much set it up good enough to have fun on tracks without too many jumps, and it flies on flat tracks if I can keep the footpegs out of the dirt. So if you still don't understand any of this, please do not try this at home.
