Of course, a trip such as this can be fairly risky, and if you end up being one of the lucky winners you're going to need the best protection possible (You ARE going to be one of the lucky winners, aren't you?) With that in mind, Dirt Rider has assembled a quick rundown of essential EVS protective items that the average mortal will need in the presence of a superhuman stuntman like Travis Pastrana. Take notes!
TakT 981 Helmet: The first thing that Pastrana makes anyone new to the Nitro Circus do is to attempt a backflip. For this, a helmet is mandatory! EVS' TakT lid is a full face, high quality brain bucket that can surely withstand a few inverted swan dives into the foam pit. Heck, it might not be a bad idea to where one of these helmets for the entirety of the trip. A boxing glove to the dome could come out of nowhere!
RC Evolution Race Collar: Picture this: You're sitting on one of Pastrana's highly-modified big wheels, about to drop in on a mega ramp in order to huck yourself into oblivion. Now, do you really want whiplash when you land that 720 straight to your suspension-less plastic wheels? We didn't think so! The RC Evo race collar can help minimize the effects of big wheel-induced neck floppage, and it can also help keep you safe if-and likely when-you end up jumping doubles in TP's Subaru rally car. Buckle up!
Revo 5 Chest protector: Paintballs sting. We're talking big, bloody welt sting. But if you are smart enough to wear an under protector before engaging in a game of paint warfare with the Nitro Circus, you can definitely keep your welts to a minimum. Should you win the EVS contest, an under protector would serve you well. However, be advised: Travis has been known to play "shirts vs. skins" paintball, and you do NOT want to get snuffed in your bare back by #199 himself!
Option Elbow Guard: Remember Streetbike Tommy, the portly construction worker friend of Travis' who accidentally jumped over the foam pit? Well, Tommy likes to do stupid things on asphalt, and the result is usually a healthy dose of road rash. If you're going to be anywhere near this nutcase, you may as well armor up now with some EVS Option elbow guards. A floating shell plus hard impact plastic equals less hydrogen peroxide, which means more time for other insane activities. Make sense? Good!
Shorty Glove: Crash-landing a parachute onto level ground is difficult enough, but doing so on a rocky hill with bare hands is murder. I'll bet Travis wished he had these EVS Shorty gloves the last time he launched his 'chute in the wrong direction! If you're going to hang with the NC crowd, do yourself a favor and get some Shorty gloves first. Hey, I'm not saying that Travis is going to strap a parachute onto your back and toss you off a cliff, but if he does.... well, be prepared!
UG02 Riding Shorts: Can you say, "slip-and-bleed"? Enough said!
WEB Knee Braces: If riding without a helmet is idiotic, riding without proper knee protection is just plain stupid.
