Vero Beach FL- The weather was dry and the course was dusty for the first round of the Grand National Cross Country series. Team Rider Dustin Gibson (XC2 #911) was invited to participate in the GNCC photo session on Sunday and all four team riders participated in the Monday practice. Riders Kailub Russell (200A #37) and Jordan Ashburn (250B #947) dominated their classes and earned overall “A” and overall “B” honors. Kailub finished 21st overall and Jordan was 52nd overall. This is significant in that there were nearly 60 PRO riders on the first 2 rows. XC2 rider Dustin Gibson was in second place early before gravity came into play. After falling to 25th he came back to 9th before having a DNF due to Vapor Lock and losing his fuel on course. XC1 rider Jason Gilleland fought arm pump on the beat out course to finish 15th in class. Washington GA- Riders were greeted with excellent conditions for round 2. The team charge was again let by the youngsters with Jordan Ashburn earning overall B honors and Kailub Russell winning 200A and finishing 22nd overall.
